Campaign for an English Parliament

CEP News Blog

The Battle Bus tour is mindful of the fact that we continually describe the support for an English Parliament as overwhelming but there is no other way to describe it. The people of Manchester are no exception.

On Oxford road the students expressed on numerous occasions support for the campaign and the unfairness of tuition fees for English students.

The BBC were typically indifferent, however one reporter had to admit that it wasn’t her but her bosses that had decided not to report on it. We are forcing the BBC every time we arrive in a new city to acknowledge the Campaigns presence and then they have to make a conscious decision to ignore the people of England’s voice.

At least the Manchester ITV Granada’s political correspondent when asked about England’s need for her own parliament had the honesty to admit that due to her being Scottish she perhaps wasn’t the best person ask or report on it!

We were assured by Manchester Utd football Club that the Campaign’s membership leaflets would be given to the players. You never know you may have a Wayne Rooney join our ranks soon!!!

Huge thanks for Ken for taking a day off work to lend his support to the Campaign and spend the whole day on Battle Bus duties.

Wonderful job you guys are doing- a little sad that the Battle Bus was not scheduled to come to North Staffs- possible strong support up this part of the country.
