Campaign for an English Parliament

Policing and justice looks likely to be devolved to the Northern Irish government following meetings between the Irish, British and Northern Irish governments.

Hilary Clinton is currently on a visit to Ireland and is confident of a deal to devolve policing to Stormont.  The British government made similar noises earlier in the week.

Lucky them, eh?  The Northern Irish (and the Welsh and Scots) are all having meetings about what extra powers can be devolved to them whilst we in England are still waiting for devolution to start.

Mr Wessex are you a royal Wessex ?

Perhaps have a look at what racism lies within your self before chuntering on about what lies within YOUR ELECTED representatives. If you dont like your polictians they vote them out.

Maria – when did you last vote for a PM — never.

Much as I dislike Broon, I didnt vote him in either .
The LABOUR party voted him in .. just like the Cons voted for Cameron .. we dont get a say in who the PM is .. you vote for a party in this stupid system and then the party choose.

The only folk that voted Broon in as an MP were the Fifers.

In this daft parliamentary system there is no real democracy

“The Celtic Nations are so Keen for independence”

Northern Ireland is now a Celtic nation? It’s keen for independence? The things that happen the minute you pop out for a loaf of bread.

    Wonkotsane,

You may think we’re “lucky” to have policing and justice devolved to a coalition *government* of ex(?)-terrorist, religious fundamentalists and all-round bigotted nutters; it’s not the description I’d use though.

    Thank you Mc Feagle,

But remember, my chuntering is about those who are not my elected representatives, who do not represent a single person south of the Border.
    Yet interfere
in our affairs and culture who have without doubt an Anglophbic stance.

If only the English had stood up the Irish unionists in 1920′s(when 85% of the country wanted independence). You could have saved yourselves from those Celts. But you and your strategic bloody empire……

I think you’ll find that was a British empire.
The English that frequent this board would also like to be free of British empire.

    Failte,

I must say in basic principle; I can’t see any reason why every Country in the IONA (Islands of the North Atlantic) shouldn’t all have equal powers of self Government. Thus there is nothing thing strange or controversial about an English Parliament, the Anglo-Saxons/Normans are their own individual people & England as Nation is well established.

However, I would only add that it was the Anglo-Saxons/Normans that originally drove the centralisation of Government Power & tried to become the apex Nation in the Scots, Anglo-Welsh bloc, impressing it’s own rules, customs, language and laws on to the other indigenous Celtic peoples.

But as they say, that’s history, more recently the Scots and Anglo-Saxons/Normans signed a forerunner to the E.E.C, when the agreed on one Parliament & had of state, but kept their own laws, the “thrifty” Scots pound became the currency of Britain, as the Guinea was dropped & a new system of trade and government was created. (I think Wales was a principality of England & thus didn’t need to sign an international treaty at the time).

If we look at Ireland, which gained “Home-Rule” from the British Empire in 1920-22, albeit in two quite bizarre versions of Home-Rule, for Ireland, one Anglo/Scots-Irish & the other larger state Anglo-Irish/Gaelic, as we can see from recent history there is no point in adopting a two Parliament solution; if needlessly entrenched attitudes are adopted by each administration.

That approach led to a Civil War in the Northern Irish (Home Rule) State between 1966-1996 & a Civil War was fought in the Southern Irish State at its inception in order to prevent to the creation of two Home-Rule Assemblies instead of one for Ireland.

Obviously even though that spiral of violence and conflict happened in the last 100Yrs & the Anglo-Saxon/Norman government in London were adopting a foreign policy towards the two states in Ireland that cultivated these Political, Religious and Ethnic differences, things have moved on a great deal thankfully & not least in the last 10-15years, which in no small way was the result of different approach by the London-Government.

I feel I have made that point, which is that attitudes and policies that need to be focused on maintaining cohesion among the 4 or 5 nations of these Islands.

However when Scotland does becoming self-governing in the four areas remaining under the control of London, a new English state based on the same basic principles that the people are sovereign will need to established, thus England will need to write a Constitution to end the “elected-dictatorship” in London, whereby any Act of Parliament carried through the House by a Majority cannot be challenged in the Supreme Court/High Court as unconstitutional because there is no written Constitution.

In this scenario, Wales will need to be given the same opportunity to regularise its Government structures in line with Scotland, England, the Rep of Ireland, Northern Ireland will probably be the most complicated region of these islands to regularise into a totally self governing region because of the obvious hurdles of ethnic differences that are plain to see.

Scotland was the main coloniser of that part of North East Ireland & thus should play a more involved role than before in helping resolve the problems faced there, along with the Rep of Ireland, anyway, things look like they are developing to a stage where the powers that the state held pre-1972 are set to return, an All-Ireland Governmental Council administers policies in areas of mutual benefit & the old ideologies of power based on Partition, Politics are in decline, if this leads to a single government state I am not sure, but whatever brings, peace, stability, prosperity & efficiency in Government spending so be it.

In conclusion I really think that MP-Tony Ben once tabled a solution not unlike this, the Commonwealth of Britain, where b there where three Republics, all in the Common Wealth (as South Africa & India are), with Ireland being involved in slightly different manner; due to the aforementioned reasons above.

Honestly I think it is only correct this approach in some form in adopted, & thus the 3 Nation’s in Britain can begins directly negotiating with the E.U. Central Parliament, in relation to matters which are specific to their people alone, but also coming together as the Common Wealth of Britain, along with Ireland, to vote strategically in the New Majority Voting System in the E.U. Parliament.

Currently there is an Inter-Governmental Body called the British-Irish Council (BIC), I think this offers a the best approach to how can harmonise the every day things we all need to work Seamlessly, in these island like Driving Licences, Motoring laws, Car registrations, Banking & even the Currency

Thus we could base our economies, round a central basic legal system on matters under the control of Anglo-Celtic Council, (which is a more accurate definition of what the as the BIC is), a single Pan Island- Federal Police would be a good idea for serious crime along with a single Border-Corps for combating the smuggling of drugs, people & weapons etc. Apart from minimising pointless bureaucracy as well, all this will makes stronger & more dynamic as we move forward as single a power bloc in the E.U. as one region with four Nations, same basic values.

Also, free movement of peoples must be negotiated with the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, also the Isle of Man & Channel Islands will all have a seat on this Council (also immigration from outside the E.U., must stop now),

On one last area I see as potential area for needless confrontation, is in relation to Nationalities in the region, anyone wising to hold Dual-Nationality/ Tri-Nationality within the Islands can do so, just look at Northern Ireland, which illustrates it is pointless to dwell on this area as an Rep of Ireland Passport & a U.K. Passport give the holder the same rights currently within the U.K. & Republic of Ireland.

That said, the only difference being, in Rep of Ireland, a U.K. Citizen can’t vote to change the Constitution, nor in Presidential elections, no equivalent currently exists in the U.K. so no such restriction can be in place. I think you will agree, the above restriction, which makes sense and should be adopted throughout the Common-Wealth of Britain, if it comes into existence.

On this basis, I believe a renewal of the Anglo-Saxon/Normans & Celtic Peoples of these Islands, will be possible, developing real industries once more, creating innovative solutions to the problems of world in Medicine, Engineering, Aerospace & transport solutions and thus becoming a major, economic, military power, leading the E.U., the Free-World & Global Culture, just as we all should be.

    Slainte,

    Ryan.
