Open letter to the English Democrats

It has come to my attention through speaking to one of their parliamentary candidates that the EDP is promoting the demonstration organised on Parliament Square for the 18th November by the Campaign for an English Parliament (CEP) as its own.  This is the kind of dishonesty we have come to expect from politicians and an [...]

Glasgow Mean Time

The clocks went back an hour this morning to mark the return to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
Every year since 1916 – excluding the second world war years – the clocks have changed twice a year, bringing lighter mornings during the winter at a cost darker evenings.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has [...]

DEFRA, the British government’s English farming and rural affairs quango, is planning to impose a tax on livestock to pay for contingency planning for livestock disease outbreaks like foot and mouth.

Policing likely to be devolved in NI soon

Policing and justice looks likely to be devolved to the Northern Irish government following meetings between the Irish, British and Northern Irish governments.
Hilary Clinton is currently on a visit to Ireland and is confident of a deal to devolve policing to Stormont.  The British government made similar noises earlier in the week.
Lucky them, eh?  The [...]

CEP Protest in Smethwick

Members of the Campaign for an English Parliament (CEP) in Shropshire and the West Midlands attended the inaugural meeting of the grandly-titled but pointlessly ineffectual Regional Grand Committee for the West Midlands last night (8th October) to protest at its existence.
Like the vast majority of English people, the Campaign for an English [...]

Tories won’t be boycotting regional grand committee after all

The Tories and the Lib Dems both pledged to boycott Gordon Brown’s regional grand committees so I called the offices of the five Shropshire MPs over the last couple of days to ask if they would be attending the regional grand committee in Smethwick on Thursday.

Daniel Kawczynski will definitely not be attending the meeting, approves [...]
