Sandwell’s St Georges Day parade has been saved thanks to the owner of Keltruck, Chris Kelly.
The West Midlands Politics Show covered the story yesterday with a councillor from Sandwell and someone from Stone Cross Gt George Association (the organisers) in the studio. The debate got a bit heated at one point when the councillor accused Stone Cross of lying about not knowing an Ulster (British) Unionist band would attend the march or that the BNP would use it to hand out leaflets.
Towards the end of the show the presenter said they’d just had an email saying that someone would pay cover whatever costs the council had refused to pay this year to make sure the parade could go ahead and asked the councillor if that meant the parade would now happen. The councillor blustered something about having to go to some committee first – he clearly wasn’t impressed but then he would be because the last thing a Labour council wants is a parade of 15,000 people calling themselves English that they can’t turn into an inclusive, diverse, multi-cultural event.
It turns out that Chris Kelly is the knight in shining armour (to use an appropriate analogy) and will cover the costs to ensure the parade goes ahead. That’s assuming the council don’t refuse permission for the parade, of course.

It’s a wonder the local council haven’t ordered Mr Kelly to stop flying that huge St George’s flag at the side of the M5 in Birmingham. Every time I go past, it really stirs my soul and makes me proud to be English….
March 2nd, 2009 at 4:59 pmWELL DONE CHRIS KELLY!!!!!!!!
Yes, WELL DONE CHRIS KELLY! It is remarkable that a councillor of an English Council is so petrified of a march by his compatriots in celebration of the English patron saint. Do you think that Scots and Welsh councillors seek BNP infiltration in the same way? When did the representatives of English councils lose their pride in being English? It is all very sad for them and for the rest of us.

How many of them are actually English mate? It doesn’t matter, they should still have the decency to respect the culture of the country they live in. Either that, or go find a better country to live in ah?
March 4th, 2009 at 9:39 amwhere does the parade start and what time thanks
March 4th, 2009 at 4:03 pmTop Man Mr. Kelly its good to see someone making a stand against the silly politically correct councils. They seem to think its a crime to be patriotic.Once again many thanks.
March 7th, 2009 at 2:34 pmWell done Chris Kelly! I’m proud to fly the flag. We must be a laughing stock to the rest of the world being dictated to by the insane politically correct!
March 10th, 2009 at 11:39 amWell done Chris Kelly. The Labour party are a pathetic bunch of anti-english traitors and racists, at least the BNP are proud to support english culture and heritage!
March 11th, 2009 at 7:28 pmWHY DONT BNP CHANGE THEIR NAME TO ENP
March 15th, 2009 at 11:26 amclyde
The ENP is the former name of the English Democrats Party who continue to own that name. The BNP in England are playing English nationalist tunes because Britishness no longer resonates with the English. Perhaps you could enlighten us to how BNP Scotland operates, I am sure they will take about the BNP being a Scottish political party, an Irish party in Ireland, etc, etc.

didnt know about enp existed ….but there you go theres a start couldnt they fly the flag for the cause?
eh..the bnp never here of them up here i dont even think they have ever put a candidate up for election
March 15th, 2009 at 10:18 pmclyde
If the BNP can’t put up candidates in Scotland then they can’t really call themselves the BNP! The problem the ENP had was that the media called them the ‘English Nazi Party’ so they had to be renamed as English Democrats. Meanwhile, the BNP and the National Front have been a thorn in the English Nationalist cause because the media and the equal opportunities lobby deliberately equate English patriotism with racism and fascism, how and why they haven’t called the SNP the ‘Scottish Nazi Party’ I don’t know or maybe they do and we don’t hear about it down here. Over to you.
March 16th, 2009 at 1:19 pmStrange you’ve never heard of the BNP up there Clyde!
