No Mandate Brown wants a “public debate” on social care in England. He wants to make social care “fair and affordable” in England. He doesn’t want it to be free in England like it is in Scotland.

The last “consultation” on social care was 8 years ago and it concluded that social care in England should be free but the British government instead made it means tested. Eight years on and the MP for Kirkcaldy & Cowdenbeath wants another 6 month consultation at who knows what cost to decide how much English people should pay for social care.

The BBC Daily Politics programme was discussing this very issue today and in an unusual departure from the BBC policy of ignoring discrimination against England, a Labour flunky was asked why the Scots can afford free social care but the English must pay with a particular reference to the Scottish Prime Minister. Of course this was met with the usual flannel you expect from a New Labour drone – it has to be fair, Gordon Brown has done such a wonderful job with the economy, he’s made mistakes but he’s admitted them, the Scots are facing a £6bn funding shortfall. No answer to the question asked of course and the £6bn shortfall doesn’t worry Holyrood, the English taxpayer will continue to pick up the bill.

The CEP has been having a “public debate” about the English being made to pay for social care that is free in Scotland ever since it was introduced north of the border and the British nationalist Labour government haven’t paid any attention, what reason is there to believe that the English will get a fair deal out of any “public debate” commissioned and presided over by an MP elected in Scotland?

Where’s the problem in funding care in England, just stop using English taxpayers money to fund spending in Northern Ireland Scotland and Wales, there’d be more than enough then.
