Cross Country Trains - Covering Three NationsNice to see this poster by Cross Country Trains.

“Covering three nations and 131 stations”.

Its just a pity that two of the nations have their national parliament/assembly while the English nation has no national political representation.

Maybe the poster should have said “Covering two nations, the regions and 131 stations”?

Mmm…thats not quite as catchy or upbeat is it?

Interestingly, the “nations and regions” political spin so loved by Gordon Brown appears to be a Scottish idea from the The Institute of Governance at the University of Edinburgh.

Actually from a Scottish or Welsh perspective, “nations and regions” does have a certain logic in relation to the disproportionate size, population and influence of England as a UK territory – makes things appear a lot more equal and proportionate. Unfortunately, from an English perspective its insulting.
